We’ve been teaching handstands online to both beginners and experienced students for years. Our method is different because we don’t waste time with anything that won’t directly prepare and protect you for handstand practice. In Handstands & Heart, every class presents options to match your level, and a courage meditation to make handstand practice a life practice. 


To learn handstand as an adult, you need to be ready to the following:

1) Prepare your joints to handle the work.

2) Repeat very simple drills a lot of times, and prioritize a certain detail appropriate to your level with every repetition.

3) Learn to use the practice as a meditation so you allow yourself a little patience.

What you don’t need to do:

1) Be mean to yourself if it takes a while to develop you handstand. Instead, use the practice to develop patience, courage, and resilience.

2) Endless Yoga flows that don’t include sets of handstand-specific exercises with adequate rest in between sets. Learn to recover.

3) Keep trying the same way if something hurts. Sometimes the fastest way into handstand is to back up and improve your joints.

    BENJAMIN SEARS

    Benjamin is the founder (in 2007) of the legendary LUXYOGA retreat in the South of France and was cited in 2017 as a “master” by Yoga Journal.

    He began practicing in 2001 to address a spinal injury and multiple knee surgeries, stuck around for the self-inquiry, and teaches with the goal of empowering students to make their own realizations.

    Benjamin teaches an ever-evolving integration of Yoga, mobility science, breath-work, and meditation, and is renowned for connecting the dots with clarity and humor. He has certifications in Katonah, Bikram, Forrest, Dharma Mittra Yoga, and Functional Range Conditioning, as well as studies within the Ido Portal Method, Ashtanga Yoga, Mindfulness Meditation, Wim Hoff Breathwork, The Oxygen Advantage, and Marma Ayurveda.

    Benjamin is obsessed with practice and is always tinkering and learning to keep it fun and functional after 40.
