join us for an invitation-only immersion with Senior Katonah Yoga Mentor Benjamin Sears
Join us for a 4 week series to explore the theory, practice, and application of Katonah Yoga on and off your mat. You will learn how to embody physical yoga postures using the inherent geometry of your own proportions and the body-map of the magic square for to supplant unconscious compensatory patterns with space and stability. Dive into the magic of metaphor with meditations, breath work, self-inquiry, and group discussion in a practical framework designed to potentiate personal and communal well-being. Katonah Yoga is a communal experience. Expect to help and be helped in postures, and have a laugh while learning. This series is not about learning a system, but learning how a system can support you.
KATONAH YOGA ® is a syncretic Hatha yoga practice developed by Nevine Michaan of Katonah Yoga Center over 40 years. Themes using asana as origami, manipulating form for function, and developing a sense of personal measure are incorporated in Katonah Yoga practices. Katonah Yoga is organized around three principles of esoteric dialogue: all polarities are mediated by trinity; the universe has pattern, pattern belies intelligence; by virtue of repetition there is potential for insight. Disciplined techniques are organized for revelation through revolutions.
Benjamin Sears is a Katonah Yoga Mentor selected by Nevine Michaan to lead students through his own interpretation of Katonah Yoga during certification programs. He is grateful for Nevine’s mentorship and friendship. He credits Katonah Yoga as a set of powerful tools that transcends the brands and fads of Yoga with sustainable, mystical, and practical ways to gain insight and longevity.
